The year has been a satisfying and enriching one for
North View Secondary School. In our continuing endeavour to excel,
let us take time to reflect on our experiences and our learning.
Even as we celebrate our various achievements in the academic arena
and in CCAs, we need to be mindful of the challenges ahead to plan
for our future. We have tried to create an atmosphere of openness
that will allow new ideas to emerge and take root so that the school
becomes a school of choice as well as a place where teaching and
learning breaks new boundaries.
The school has in place varied and balanced programmes
to nurture pupils to be morally upright citizens as they journey towards
their own peaks of excellence. Every North Viewer - teachers, pupils and
non-teaching staff - has contributed to the school's many successes
along the way. If we all work towards our common goals and allow our
sound moral values to guide and anchor us in all that we do, we will
most definitely bring the school to greater heights.
Such accomplishments would not have been possible
without the hard work and effort put in by everyone; from the
Vice-principals right down to the pupils. However, there is still much
more to be done. We would like our pupils to move from extrinsic
motivation to self-motivation and then towards a passion for continuous
life-long learning.
To our graduating classes, the values that have taken
root throughout our secondary school years will give you stability in
life, as we enter an era marked by uncertainty and even volatility. As
you take great strides in your lives, be open and receptive to new
learning experiences as the world continues to evolve with increasing
speed and in ways beyond our imagination. William Blake expounded on the
concept of hope and beauty with the following inspiring lines:
To see a world in a grain of sand,
and a heaven in a wild flower,
hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
and eternity in ah hour.
Our vision for our school is to produce responsible and
thinking pupils who will develop a love for learning beyond the walls
and grounds of the school. To achieve this, we need the continual
support and encouragement for our partnership with parents, our SAC and
the community to work together in teaching good behaviour and practices
to our pupils which can be reinforced both at the home-front and in
school. We will continue to push ahead in our journey towards holistic
development for all our pupils. Onward we go! I wish everyone all the
best in the coming year.
